This beautiful 16th Century olive mill was featured in The World of Interiors magazine for the wonderful renovation carried out by its owners in 1990.
The sand stone moulin has been kept as authentic as possible in appearance preserving its original character and friendly welcoming air.
Tastefully and effectively achieved with the use of antique furniture, warm colours, kelims and local Provencal pieces, textures and light are just perfect.
There are three hectares of botanical gardens surrounding the property, planted with roses, figs, lavendar and box – as well as many rare plants and flowers imported from all over the world.
There are over one hundred olive trees here and several terraces, dotted around the pool, providing many spots to sit peacefully with a book.
In the evening, the garden can be illuminated – several trees and the boules pergola picked out so that boules matches can be played out in the warm Cote d’Azur nights.
Nearby, the picturesque town of Mougins with its restaurants and art shops shares this hill with Moulin du Jardinier, overlooking Cannes just fifteen minutes away.
The Siagne Canal is within easy reach where one can enjoy lovely walks along the water and the hustle and bustle of the beaches of the Cote are – amazingly – just twenty minutes distant.
The heated pool and well-equipped pool house in the garden are very welcome after a game on the half-court or for relaxing all day in peace, without ever leaving the grounds.
There is the best of both worlds hee with all of the fun and games of the Cote d’Azur on one’s doorstep and yet sheltered and highly privileged seclusion if one wants it.
Whatever the day’s activities, there are very few places as fine as the terrace of Moulin du Jardinier in the evening as the sun dips and the stones turn orange in the light, a glass of Provencal Rose in hand.
